Boards bound in cloth (spine in rust-colored cloth with gilt lettering; beige sides). Interior clean and crisp. Dust jacket spine faded; has a few short closed tears to top edge; scuff to bottom fore-edge of front panel; in an archival sleeve. Illustrated with wood block prints. xii, 83 pp. 7 x 5 inches.

Blackwell North America presentation copy for New Year's 1983, with presentation pages in Spanish and English.

Laid-in:

1) A typed and hand-signed letter from Anaya on his letterhead to Jack Walsdorf of Blackwell North America. Letter is dated January 14, 1982 and regards his visit to San Antonio, the reading he gave at Trinity University, his meeting with Mexican-American, Chicano librarians, etc.).
2) Two preprinted letters, each from a Blackwell VP (Jack Walsdorf and Jack Satisky) which introduce this new Anaya volume. [This copy of The Magic of Words is inscribed to "Don"--possibly Donald Satisky.]
