The story of the San Francisco Fountain, with descriptions and photographs of several of the various scenes depicted in this 1970 bronze sculpture by American sculptor Ruth Asawa (1926-2013). The fountain is located in downtown San Francisco on the brick stairs of the Grand Hyatt on Stockton Street. The sculpture depicts sixty-six different, interrelated locations and scenes in the city in bas-relief.
The booklet author, Sally Burke Woodbridge (1930-2019), participated in the creation of the fountain. She was an architectural historian and journalist and a longtime resident of Berkeley.
