Inscribed by the author. A photograph of the author is also tipped in. Her handwritten caption reads: ''Poetry tea, and autograph party.'' Additional items are also tipped in: an extra poem (''Friendship''), a review of this book, and its publications announcement issued by the publisher.  

More than forty poems, divided into three sections:
[I] Fort Bragg Bestiary.
[II] Shanghai Sketches.
[III] The Magnolia Tree.  

Eunice Davis (1895-1992), whose poetry appeared in many journals, including the Columbia University Forum, December, Voices, and the South and West Literary Quarterly, was a longtime resident and art teacher in Portland. She taught music and art at the Ockley Green school between the late 1930s and 1961 when she retired.
