The second book in Cordell's Mortymer trilogy, set in Wales during the period of the Rebecca Riots [1839-1843], when local farmers violently reacted against the taxation scheme, dressed up as women, blacked their faces, and rode by night to burn the hated tollgates. The British edition was titled Hosts of Rebecca.
