The date is uncertain, but uses the original business address of 209 East 14th Street (the business moved to 212 East 14th sometime before November 1944). It notes that ''mails are now slowed up due to war and transportation conditions'' and that there is a labor shortage and an increased costs of materials.
Irving Klaw (1910-1966) was known as the king-pin of the pin-ups. During the war he ran a very brisk business selling pin-ups to the troops. In 1943, one commanding officer was quoted in a newspaper as saying, ''Cheesecake is a good morale factor. I want to distribute these photographs in the recreation room.
