Classic early 1940s advertising industry career advice.
The author, Walter A. Lowen (1894-1965), was an advertising employment specialist. He graduated from the Columbia University School of Journalism in 1917 and afterwards studied advertising copywriting under some of its leading practitioners. In 1920 he founded the highly successful Walter A. Lowen Placement Agency in New York City which specialized in the placement of advertising personnel. It was one of the first counseling and placement services of its kind. At the time of his retirement from the company in 1957, he had placed 100,000 men and women in advertising jobs.
