Description: Ivory boards stamped in silver on the front cover. Boards soiled. Many of the pages show surface damage in their upper margin where pages had stuck together. There is chipping on a some pages (primarily the title page and the final four leaves). Damage to text is limited to one paragraph and a couple of names on the final few pages. Local advertising throughout. [120] pages. 9 x 12 inches. Four copies noted on OCLC (United States Military Academy, New York Historical Society, Harvard, Univ. of Michigan).
A scarce pictorial souvenir of the Ninth Regiment of the New York National Guard, produced for the opening of its armory in 1897. Provides a history of the regiment, including details of its action and engagements during the Civil War. Many portraits of officers (including the captains and lieutenants of each company) and several other photos, group photos, and portraits of veteran officers. Includes contemporary rosters for each of the regiment's companies and registers of both the living and deceased members of the Veteran Association.
The armory was located at 125 West 14th Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues) and was demolished in 1969.
