Jennie Harris Oliver (1864-1942) was a beloved Oklahoma author and the state's Poet Laureate from 1940-1942. She sold Mokey to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), who made it into a film in 1942 starring Donna Reed, Dan Daily, and Robert ''Bobby'' Blake.
