Lucia Merecka Borski (1903-1996) was born in Poland to a family of booksellers. She was associated with the New York Public Library between 1922 and 1944 and then served the Library of Congress as a Slavic language cataloger. She was also the first librarian and archivist at the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
