A treatise on the homeopathic treatment of headaches, with descriptions of 169 cases, organized by remedy, and general commentary. Peters' work here is a translation and an elaboration on the section on headaches in Theodore Johann Ruckert's Klinische Erfahrung in der Homoopathie. Ruckert and his older brother, Ernest Ferdinand Ruckert, were direct students of Hahnemann.
The author, Dr. John Charles Peters (1819-1893), physician to and friend of Washington Irving, was educated at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and studied in Berlin and Vienna, receiving his medical degree in 1842. He was a native of New York City and maintained a well-known practice there. He was one of the three founders of the New York Pathological Society (1844) and at one time was the president of the Medical Society of the County of New York.
