A history of the Tughluq dynasty in the period of the reign of the first two Sultans, and in particular Muhammad-bin-Tughluq (1290-1351), originally published in 1936.
The notable English Orientalist and Oxford professor of Arabic said of it, ''This should be regarded as an exceptionally valuable contribution to the history of Muslim India. It is a 'Life and Times' of Muhammad Tughluq, collected from both contemporary and later narratives, some printed, others in manuscript, which the writer has collated, correcting or confirming their statements...
The central figure is pathetic rather than heroic. Dr. Prasad is unable to acquit him of the charge of parricide, though describing him as 'a man of unblemished character,' but does his best to clear him of other accusations, such as insanity, wanton massacres, Muhammadan unorthodoxy, and cruelty." [The Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland , April 1938]. The great traveler, Ibn Battuta, had a fortuitous though rocky relationship the Sultan Muhammad Tughluq, and wrote about his time at the Sultan's court.
