The album, which opens with a portrait of Puyi, the last Emperor of China and the recently crowned Emperor of Manchukuo, presents a photographic guide to Manchuria in the 1930s. It includes images of cities, commercial and city centers, street scenes, prominent institutional buildings, war monuments, the Imperial Tomb at Mukden, temples, the Russian Orthodox cathedral at Harbin, railway stations, mining operations and ironworks, port scenes, coastal views, artillery battery sites, and hot spring resorts.
Approximately 35 of the 86 images show scenes from the major centers of Dairen (Dalian), Port Arthur (Lushunkou), Mukden (Shenyang), Hsingking (Changchun), and Kharbin (Harbin), with the rest from other locations across the country.
