Prior to the First World War, Barker had studied with Carl Jung in Europe and, in London, as a member of Samuel L. MacGregor Mather's Golden Dawn-associated occult order Alpha et Omega, acted as liaison between its American and British branches. She was also a notable editor, poet and short story writer. Her papers hare held at Brown University.
