Biography of the five-term U.S. Senator from Nebraska, George William Norris (1861-1944), a leader of progressive and liberal causes and a strong proponent of the Roosevelt's New Deal, best known for his sponsorship of the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1933 during the Great Depression. Norris served was a member of the United States Congress for forty years, five terms as a representative for Nebraska's 5th District, 1903-1913, and then five terms as senator, 1913-1943. Co-written by Richard L. Neuberger, who went on to have his own political career as a U.S. Senator for Oregon, 1955-1960.
