he first 140-or-so pages are quality reproductions from the 1878 History of Van Buren County, including its biographical portion and Civil War veteran roster. The remaining 260 pages are original chapters which present historical information on Van Buren County's cities, towns, schools, churches, mills, the homes and other structures in the various townships, social clubs and organizations, and an additional 24-pages of biographies of county residents (including the book's original owner Harold Craig McComb).
Also includes 14 township maps which show the locations of homes in 1976: Bonaparte, Cedar, Chequest, Des Moines, Farmington, Harrisburg, Henry, Jackson, Lick Creek, Union, Van Buren, Vernon, Village, and Washington Townships.
Additionally, there are chronological lists of the graduates of the high schools, including: Milton High School (1886-1959), Fox Valley High School (1960-1975), Bonaparte High School (1891-1960), Farmington High School (1884-1959), Harmony High School (1960-1975), Birmingham High School (1888-1962), Douds-Leando High School (1918-1961), Selma High School (1920-1960), Stockport High School (1913-1963), and Keosauqua High School (1888-1974), as well as lists of the county's veterans from the Spanish-American War, World War I & II, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
