Red card slipcase with paper labels on three sides, with the front featuring a faux-title page with a caricature of Barnum as a Hum-Bug. Slipcase is intact and shows some moderate scuffing and wear.
This 1927 Knopf edition was based on three original works: The Life of P. T. Barnum Written by Himself (New York, 1855), Struggles and Triumphs; or Forty Years' Recollections of P. T. Barnum (Hartford, 1869), and the condensed version of Struggles and Triumphs (Buffalo, 1889), and is supplemented with Mrs. Barnum's ''The Last Chapter''. In addition, it provides a detailed 66-page introduction (with a publishing history of the autobiography) and a five-page bibliography.
