A detailed and well documented pictorial history of the Pacific Railway & Navigation Company railroad (the PR&N), which ran from Hillsboro (just west of Portland), through the Coast Mountain range, and on to the city of Tillamook on the Oregon coast. It tells in chronological order the construction of the line, and also provides interesting details about some of the towns that developed as the railroad advanced.
The Pacific Railway & Navigation Company was incorporated in 1905 and the railway was completed in 1911. It operated under the PR&N until 1915, when it became a property of Southern Pacific. The documentation herein covers a period ending in 1918.
