Despite the title indicating a ''historical novel,'' this volume presents only factual historical information about Morgan County, Kentucky, its capitol of West Liberty, and its smaller towns and villages. It also provides nearly 170 pages of genealogical information, arranged by family name alphabetically. It also includes sections on the religion and churches and on local fears and superstitions. Based on the author's twenty-five years of research and interviews with 74 oldtimers.
Arthur C. Johnson (1913-1998) graduated from Morehead State University in 1950, majoring in history and geography.
