The author, Hugo Salus (1866-1929), was a Czech gynecologist, writer and poet, recognized as one of the more important exponents of German-Jewish literature in the Prague of his day.
Illustrated by Heinrich Vogeler (1872-1942), a German painter, designer, and architect, and central member of the artist colony in Worpswede.
