Title: Thunderbird Review [cover title: 45th Infantry Division]
Description: Primarily a picture album of the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War, covering the training period at Camp Polk (Sep 1950-Mar 1951), time en route to and training on Hokkaido, Japan (Apr-Dec 1951), and military policing in Korea (beginning 10 Dec 1951).
There is also a 21-page World War II history of the 45th in Europe (covering the campaigns in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe).
It concludes with a 53-page division roster (name and address), including each regiment, battalion and company.
The 45th Infantry Division consisted of the 179th, 180th, and 279th Infantry Regiments; the 158th, 160th, 171st, and 189th Field Artillery Battalions; the 145th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion; the 120th Engineer Combat Battalion; the 120th Medical Battalion; and the 245th Tank Battalion.
The apparent original owner, whose name is tagged in the division roster, was James Lynn Sutton (1928-2014) of Tigard, Oregon. He served with the 180th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company I.
Boards in blue cloth with the 45th's ''thunderbird'' insignia in the lower corner. Light wear and soiling to covers. A few very minor smudges, else interior is clean and is unmarked, except for a couple small dashes marked by a name in the roster. Thoroughly illustrated. [400] pages. 12 x 9 inches.
