Title: Light Through the Darkness: The True Life Story of Michael Simonivitch Beitzakhar
Author: Michael Simonivitch Beitzakhar [Michael Simon Beitz] / Translated and Edited by Daniel V. KuBrock
Description: A fascinating first-hand account of the life and adventures of Michael Simonivitch Beitzakhar, a Subbotnik/Adventist minister in Persia and Russia during the period 1914 to 1951. Beitzakhar (1902-2005) was born into an Assyrian Christian family in Persian Kurdistan. The narrative follows him through from the period of Russo-Turkish war and the fallout resulting from the Russian Revolution, to his Sabbatarian baptism in his teens, his studies in Kiev at an Adventist minister school in the 1920s, experiences during the suppression of religion by the Soviets, expulsion back to Persia in 1930, and his ministry to Russian families in Tehran, Rahmatabad, and the village of Pahlevi on the Caspian Sea.
From the Preface: ''For more than two years it was a privilege of the writer to be associated with Elder Beitzakhar as a fellow minister in the Russian-speaking church in Teheran, Iran. Together we visited the believers in the village of Rahmatabad, and also journeyed to many of the places mentioned in the story.''
