A series of annual readership studies for various small newspapers across western states conducted by Chilton Bush started in 1945. This was study #5. The newspapers included in this survey are: Albany Democrat Herald (Oregon), Pueblo Star-Journal and Chieftain (Colorado), Santa Monica Evening Outlook (California), Twin Falls Times-News (Idaho) and Yakima Daily Republic & Morning Herald (Washington). The topics covered are Reading page by page, significant readership data, local advertising readership, and five-year summary and analysis.
Chilton Bush was the Director of the Institute for Journalistic Studies at Stanford University for twenty-seven years. He wrote several journalism books, including "Newswriting and Reporting Public Affairs" and "The Art of News Communication."
