Previous owner was H. C. [Henry Carl] Dake (1896-1969), a longtime Portland (and priorly Maupin) dentist, author, mineral collector, publisher of Oregon Mineralogist, and founder and first president of the Oregon Agate and Mineral Society. The mineral Dakeite (a secondary uranium mineral) was named after him in 1937. This book was acquired by him in June 1913, probably just prior to his studies at North Pacific Dental College.
