Genealogy of family historical record of the family of William Thompson Templeton (1809-1882) and his descendants. Templeton was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and was a pioneer to Oregon in 1847. His parents were James Templeton and Elizabeth Mares (Ramsey) Templeton of Henry County, Indiana. The Templeton Donation Land Claim of 640 acres was located near Brownsville in Linn County. The family had ties to the families of Henry Spalding and Marcus Whitman, and visited the Whitman's mission at Waiilatpu one month before the massacre.
Book includes a lot of varied source material, including a transcription of James Templeton's will (1828), some ancestral family details (Edmondson, McClung, Cloyd, Paxton families), photos of the family and farm, an account of their journey over the Oregon Trail, sketches for lives of William and some of his children, obituaries, newspaper clippings, a plat map of the Brownsville area (showing McHargue, Templeton, Keeney, Morgan Findlay, etc.) which notes the location of the Templeton hopyard, the Findlay flour mill, Oak Grove school, the Henry H. Spalding home, etc), an 1889 photo of the students of the Oak Grove school with more than 30 students identified, and more.
