Includes stories, a few short letters from missionaries, and the main features regard the Cavalla Mission and school in West Africa (Liberia). There is a picture of the school house (later colored-in) and a description of the facilities, followed by detailed descriptions of ten of its residents (both teachers and students). There is also a letter from one of the boys at Cavalla addressed to Bishop John Payne. The first article (with illustration) on the top page is about the ailment of "ophthalmia" that is encountered along the Nile.
